VS
The Bride is NOT the church everywhere the Bible references the word Bride! Everyone thinks that the Bride in the Bible always means the church because of a verse in Eph. 5:22-28.
So when they see this verse in Rev. 22:17 ‘The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.’
they think this automatically refers to the church. However, if we take that kind of idea, what can we say about these verses?
John 21:15 ‘When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” 17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.’
Here, we can clearly see them talking about the lambs being the children of God, God’s flock.
Now see this verse:
John 1:29 ‘The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”‘
Here, it is evident that the Lamb of God is Jesus Himself!
So you see, you can’t “interpret” whatever way you want. The Bride in Revelation is not the same Bride as referenced in Ephesians. Then who is the Bride written in Revelations if not the church?
Rev. 21:9 ‘One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.‘
the angel showed the Bride and wife of the Lamb (Jesus) to be the Holy City Jerusalem coming down out of heaven. So the Bride must be the Holy City Jerusalem. Well then, we know Jesus will not marry a physical city any more than He is a physical lamb. What does this REAALLY mean?
Gal. 4:26 “But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our Mother.”
There you have it. The Bible says that the Jerusalem in Heaven (above) is Our Mother. Then that’s who it is. Why would the church come down out of heaven, anyway? Isn’t that where it’s trying to go?
